After completing the obligatory tour of interviews to the TV-stations, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti arrived for the official post match press conference. Below are the most important things he stated.
What do you have to say about Inter midfielders lacking the ability to fore things up? Is there too much pressure on Icardi?
“In certain games, it is hard to create space for our attacking central midfielders. Nainggolan has so far never been in the right mode to play. But we are convinced that he is the right signing for the future, a player that can get us forward. Icardi does not feel the pressure even though this youngster has the shoulders of Ibrahimovic, broad and large. He is strong from a mental point of view. Then it all comes down to the expectations he has, something that creates difficulties every time he doesn’t score, something that is always expected from him. But today he played at his lowest level.”
What about Nainggolan?
“He did what I expected from him, he still is not at the the level when he can make a difference. He has to continue to work hard, trying to find some extra gasoline in his motor.”
Better a stadium with kids than an empty stadium, but how much did you miss the crowd?
“This penalty you have to pay and you feel it when you miss the crowd. But it was very thankful to hear the kids cheer for both teams. You could name this match as a stadium full of love for football.”
