Inter attacker Mauro Icardi wants a goal and he wants it desperately according to Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport who reports on the Nerazzurri captain’s goal-drought in today’s paper.

“Going 5 games without a goal is almost impossible for the Inter fans. It is true that the Nerazzurri sriker went goalless for the first 5 rounds of the championship but that, including the game against Bologna, was partly due to a muscle injury.”

“In fact, exactly a year ago another muscle injury kept him out of the squad for 7 days. To sum things up, even when going back to the 2014/2015 season when Icardi cemented his place as a starting player there has only been one other time when he has gone 5 Serie A matches without scoring after being physically healthy. In September 26, 2014 he managed to end his drought against Cesena after 5 games without any goals. But, two of those games he started off the bench, entering the pitch during the final stage of the game.”

But in reality, the Inter captain’s stats are anything but negative: “Taking all of the competitions in account, the Inter striker has scored 15 goals in 26 appearances and at this time a year ago he had scored 18 times in 23 appearances. But last season, Inter centered the play around Icardi, this year Inter has been looking to alternative solutions. And the result is that the team is blocked at the moment.”
