With Frenkie de Jong set to join Barcelona in the Summer from Ajax and Adrien Rabiot expected to follow suit once his deal with PSG is up, it is fair to say that with all these new midfield options on top of the players already at the club, it is difficult to see where Ivan Rakitic might fit in.

Prior to yesterday’s El Classico in the Copa del Rey, Barcelona’s president was questioned about Rakitic’s future at the club, specifically whether he will get a new contract. Bartomeu made it clear that once the club “has new economic possibilities, we will talk about its renewal.”

As per a report from Corriere dello Sport, the Croatian midfielder could listen to offers from other clubs in the Summer with interest believed to exist from a number of clubs including Inter.

Inter are keen to improve the midfield and are looking for someone with character and a winning mentality, both of which Rakitic has.

The report goes on to state that Rakitic is unlikely to come cheap. Rakitic has a contract with the club through to 2021 and has a €125 million release clause in his contract.
