Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan was happy after the win away against Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini when he spoke to Sky Sport Italia after the match.
How important is this win after what has happened in the last few weeks?
“The teams behind us are getting closer, these three points make us a bit more relaxed and in a good position in the standings. We have had a difficult period, both from what has been said about us and confidence wise. Tonight we deserved the win, creating a lot of goal scoring opportunities.”
How has it been for you during this tough period?
“I am trying to give the best of me, because I started this championship in a bad way. I have never been at 100%, then I got inured and there has also been non-football related issues as well. Now me and the club are on a journey together and I hope I can repay them, we made a pact and they reached out. The only thing I want to do is to play football and to do what is best for this team.”
What kind of “pact” have you made?
“We are talking about things that can’t leave the locker room. I know that I have made some mistakes, not being at my best. We have created some kind of a program a bit different and the club is close to me. The only thing that I want to do is to repay the organization and contribute to this team.”
And your contribution could easily benefit Inter in the season finale?
“Yes, and again, I have never been at 100%, not even tonight. I felt good, let’s just hope that I will continue to feel better. The physical condition means a lot, then what happens outside the pitch has always been secondary to me. I am 30 years old and something had to change, therefore at some levels, especially on a personal level, something had to change.Having this tranquility means that I can be more serious in what I do.”
You are still not at 100% and you have not been that lucky during this first season with Inter?
“During my entire career I haven’t had these kind of physical problems. Therefore, since I started this season with certain health problems, I have started to ask myself some questions. Thanks to the physio team at Inter I am starting to get back to the form I was in when it all started.”
What kind of environment are you experiencing right now at Inter?
“Let’s say that in Rome you can feel the pressure a lot more in respect to here. But due to Inter’s history, everybody expecta you to win and as soon as possible. In every square, if the results are against you, you get criticized. And that is fine, that is part of the game, the only thing you can do is to respond on the pitch. This is what we are trying to do now, and as a group we can improve on all of these aspects.”
