Mauro Icardi, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and Inter manager Luciano Spalletti are to meet at Inter’s training ground to make a decision on the striker’s immediate future according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The club wishes to understand the true intentions of the 25-year-old who was stripped of the club captaincy on Wednesday and then rejected the call-up to join Inter in Vienna for the Europa League match with Rapid Vienna. Moreover, they hope to be able to separate Icardi from his former captain status.

The Milan based newspaper report that Icardi made the decision due to his disappointment at losing the armband and as a result, he was able to receive some treatment on a knee injury at the Angelo Moratti Sports Centre.

To avoid any misunderstandings during today’s meeting Nerazzurri club doctor Piero Volpi will also be present.

Icardi has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season in which he has scored 15 goals.
