There was a relaxed tone to the conversation between Mauro Icardi and Inter manager Luciano Spalletti according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

On the day where the Argentine spoke with several of Inter’s leadership, he also spoke to Spalletti who made it clear to him that the door is open for him to return when he feels ready and made it clear to him that he is and still can be important to Inter. Icardi’s apology to his teammates for the recent events has also been postponed.

The report goes on to detail that after Icardi and Spalletti spoke, Spalletti reported back to the leadership and it was decided that Icardi would face no punishment for his decision to reject the call-up for Rapid Vienna. This is due to the fact that Icardi is actually dealing with a problem to his knee as confirmed by the club doctor and it isn’t just simply a cover up as many were led to believe.
