Inter attacker Matteo Politano reflected on Inter’s 2-1 victory over Sampdoria this evening at San Siro.

“Three important points, especially with Milan and Lazio’s respective results. Tonight we faced a strong Sampdoria side that played well so therefore we are more than happy about the result,” he said in an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport.

“It was not that easy to face this game after all that was said during the week but one of our strengths is that we are a united and compact group and during these last couple of tough games we are proving to be exactly that. Now we have the two away games against Fiorentina and Cagliari, I hope Mauro Icardi can return soon.

“Firstly though, we have to think about the return in the Europa League. Our thoughts about Mauro is as they always have been: he is our captain, and for us everything is OK.”
