After a tough and more then welcome victory against Sampdoria, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti had the following to say about tonight’s performance.

“This is an important victory that puts an end to all the recent talk about Inter. The work has gotten harder, but we strike even harder like we did today,” he told Sky Sport.

He then went on to discuss Mauro Icardi and his presence at the ground.

“All that Marotta said about Mauro is fine, I liked his presence a lot, and I would have liked it even more if he would have come to the dressing room celebrating such an important victory. He is part of this group and I think he is as happy as we are.”

He was then asked if he believes things have returned to normal.

“I think so, this is what happens in the locker room. You all go to the same places and it is impossible to avoid experiencing these kind of situations. This all means that we are all on the same side and it is something that we can expect. But there are more steps to take and for someone that is outside all of this it’s all about living in the locker room and having the pleasure of working with such a group, because it is a good group. ”

He concluded by speaking on the reaction he got from the team in wake of the recent chaos.

“First half I saw some fear and difficulty, because Sampdoria is a good team that makes you chase the ball. You have to be at your best in order to hurt them but I must say that being criticised doesn’t help. I have been in these situations before…Compliments to the crowd for trying to boost us after their equaliser, the crowd was part of the game today.”
