Inter CEO Beppe Marotta gave his opinion on the current situation between the club and Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi, who was stripped of the captain’s armband last week, in interview with Rai Sport after the Sampdoria match.

“I had an official meeting with Wanda Nara about a month ago and I promised her that we would come back with a contract renewal proposal and that is what we will do in a few weeks. Other evaluations will be made when the time is right.”

“The fact remains that Icardi is one of our players, he has a contract that expires two and a half years from now and we always want him to continue to contribute with all everything he is capable of, including his fighting spirit and all the goals that he has given this club up until now. It is not up to me to recognize him, but of course he is an important player.”
