Inter’s Curva Nord have released a statement giving their opinion on the current events at the club concerning Mauro Icardi, who was recently stripped of the Inter captaincy.

“Inter and the Inter community don’t deserve how some of its members are behaving,” the statement that appeared in their fanzine for Sunday’s match with Sampdoria reads.

“The club doesn’t deserve to have these players with dubious commitment, always trying to chase the extra dollar every six months, not respecting the contract. The Inter fans just cannot accept that a player from one day to another decides to abandon this glorious jersey in order to follow their ego. It shouldn’t be acknowledged that these persons, after a defeat, use social media in order to wash their hands and question the loyalty of the fans. Nor should it be acceptable that wives, parents or relatives celebrates in social media when we lose. We are not talking about victories and defeats, we talk about respect. Only and simple about respect. For Inter, for its history and for its fans.”

The appeal continues: “Many players have put on our jersey, with different fortune. Very few were true Interisti, some of them have become Interisti during the passing of time, others have simply behaved like professionals. That is why we will never forget the likes of Walter Zenga, Nicola Berti, Paul Ince, Ivan Zamorano, Julio Cruz, Diego Simeone, Marco Materazzi, Samuel Eto’o. Not all of them champions, not all of them saints, but for sure true men. Send the mercenaries away from Inter.”
