“Everyone saw that it wasn’t a penalty. And before that situation there was a foul on D’Ambrosio, us players told him that. I don’t know, it was a bit confusion there. Anyways, the game is over, we of course are angry for what happened. But on Friday we have another game to prepare for.”
How does it affect you players being held up for such a long time awaiting a decision?
“Tonight there was a lot of lost time due to VAR waiting, because there were a lot of decisions being made from VAR. Whoever is responsible needs to think about how to make the players wait less. It is normal to wait a bit, especially for the decisive decisions. where it id worth to wait a bit longer.”
In the locker room you seem to be more united after what has happened to Icardi, but he still remains an important piece to you?
“We don’t always have to talk about this thing. We have a united locker room with the right spirit on the field.”
How much do you regret leaving those two points on the field today? Also thanks to some internal errors?
“Yes, we committed some individual errors today. Sorry for that, but we will move on also from this fact. Now we have to think about the next game.”
You had a great reaction on the early disadvantage, then after the goal from Muriel you lost the focus. What happened?
“We had the game where we wanted it, then Muriel opened up everything. They had two more attackers up front because they had nothing to lose. Up until 3-1 we managed the game pretty well, that free kick of Muriel changed the game.”
Muriel hit that free kick very well, a great technical number.
“I think that the wind kind of helped him, but nonetheless it was a great goal.”
