According to Tuttosport, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta’s transfer strategy is to bring well-known players, who are able to contribute both tactically and mentally.

The first two targets are Diego Godin and Ivan Rakitic but it will not stop there for Inter this coming Summer.

Tuttosport also believe that Marotta has already started analysing potential candidates to replace Mauro Icardi. So far the most desirable names are Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku.

Firstly, Dezeko worked with Luciano Spalletti at Roma. The Bosnian has one year left on his contract and it does not look like Roma are going to offer a renewal. Therefore he would cost between €10-12 million. He is believed to be the ideal man to support Lautaro Martinez’s growth.

Secondly, there is Lukaku who is a much younger player, but is struggling a lot this season. It is believed that he is on the market for the right price, considering Manchester United spent €85 million for him.

Inter’s potential business with Manchester United could also extend to Matteo Darmian also. The Italian fullback is greatly admired by Marotta who wanted to bring him to Juventus and now wants him at Inter. He’s been a ghost at Manchester United this season and will become a free agent in June. Marotta likes him because he can play on both flanks and in a three man defence.

Once these targets have been met, Marotta will then focus on establishing a strong youth foundation. Players such as Federico Chiesa, Rodrigo de Paul, Nicolo Barella and Sandro Tonali are all being monitored.
