Mauro Icardi is to evaluate the possibility of surgery in order to correct his knee problem to allow him to return to top condition and give him the best chance of going to the Copa America with Argentina, Corriere dello Sport report.

Inter’s medical team recently evaluated Icardi after he alerted them of pain in his knee although their tests showed there was no significant damage and that they do not believe he requires any surgery.

Icardi is weighing up the idea of surgery and could go to Barcelona for a consultation with a doctor there for a more precise diagnosis, something that surgery would require for it to have the best chance of success.

The 26-year-old has sat out of Inter’s past four games and will also seemingly miss tomorrow night’s match against Cagliari as per many reports.

This season he has made 28 appearances and has scored 15 goals in the process.
