Inter’s medical staff, led by Professor Piero Volpi, conducted  examinations on Marcelo Brozovic’s right thigh yesterday which revealed that there was no serious injury, after the Croatian requested to come off in the 42nd minute against SPAL on Sunday due to what he thought was a torn muscle.

You can almost hear Luciano Spalletti’s sigh of relief, since he now has one more option in midfield to use in the Milan Derby and the Gazzetta dello Sport believes that he could even be called up for tomorrow’s games against Eintracht, although just as a sub to avoid risk.

Even if the Croatian didn’t start, he could still be used to bring balance to the midfield at a later stage depending on the result at that moment, considering Matias Vecino and Borja Valero are currently the only senior players who will definitely be available.

Coach Spalletti also made it clear that Radja Nainggolan was unlikely to be available against Milan, making this return all the more important. Although one difference between the Europa League and Serie A, is that Roberto Gagliardini will also be available for selection against Milan. The midfield is slowly starting to piece back together.
