No less than 70% of the tickets for the upcoming Milan derby have been purchased by fans outside of Italy according to data revealed by ticketing company StubHub.
The derby, as per various reports, is headed for a sell-out thus meaning 50,000 odd of those in attendance will be coming from outside of Italy to take the match in at San Siro on Sunday night.
This represents a 7% increase on the number of tickets bought by foreigners for the last Milan derby a year ago when Milan were the ‘home’ side.
30% of the overall tickets have been bought within Italy, more than any other country. The United States of America is in second place with 24%, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in third with 10%, Japan in fourth with 7% and France with 3.5%.
Sunday’s derby will be the second of the season and this derby could prove decisive for the race for third place between the Milanese clubs.
