In an interview with Inter’s official matchday programme for tonight’s Europa League round of 16 second leg match with Eintracht Frankfurt, former Inter player Luis Figo shared his delight at deciding to join Inter back in 2005.

“I was fortunate to find a family at an important time for the club at the team level and in terms of victories. We were very strong and I am happy to have made this decision,” he explained.

He also touched upon his final game for Inter which was also his final game of his 20 year playing career.

“It was a memorable day. One that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have to thank Javier Zanetti for giving me the captain’s armband on the day. It was a show of affection that really moved me.”

The Portuguese played for Inter between 2005-2009 and made 141 competitive appearances in which he scored 11 goals and tallied 28 assists.
