Mauro Icardi and Inter are now more distant than ever before with today marking a month since the first game he refused a call-up for, Gazzetta dello Sport detail.

On February 13 Icardi was stripped of the Inter captaincy and subsequently rejected the call-up to travel with the Inter team to Austria to take on Rapid Vienna, as confirmed by Inter manager Luciano Spalletti at the time.

He is now officially out with a knee injury even though Inter’s medical tests showed no problem to his right knee which he claims he is having pain in.

Some reports have suggested he will return to action after the upcoming international break but the Milan based newspaper instead state that it is very difficult to envisage him playing against Lazio on March 31.

The report goes on to state that in terms of the future, the 26-year-old Argentine would prefer a move to either Real Madrid or Juventus. Real Madrid because he likes the team while Juventus makes most logistical sense for him and his family.
