Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella is one of many transfer targets that Inter have for the Summer transfer window according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

In January, Barella, who is valued at between €40-50 million, was grateful for Napoli’s interest but he decided to take his time and the Rome based newspaper suggest that this could be because he is holding out for a better offer. Chelsea were also reportedly interest in him but that turned out to be nothing more than white noise.

Corriere dello Sport believes that for all this time Barella has been waiting for Inter to make a move but Inter have not yet started work on reducing his price.

Inter’s plan is to offer Cagliari some of their highly rated youth players in exchange, similar to their plan for Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, although Cagliari are more open to the idea than the Viola. The reason Cagliari are more appreciative of Inter is because Inter helped them secure the deal for Nahitan Nandez.
