Former Milan and Rome director Umberto Gandini has shared his opinion on the way communication has been managed in the recent controversy between Mauro Icardi and Inter.

“The high profile of the issue has led Inter to behave in the same way as the player who chose the social media as a privileged means of communication,” he remarked in an interview with Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Gandini then went on to discuss Wanda Icardi’s dual role as the 26-year-old Argentine’s wife and agent.

“In the past, there have been fathers and brothers who have been the agents of top players in football. The problem with Wanda is the way in which she is carrying out the role.

He concluded: “It seems that the position of the agent is more important than that of the player. The problem arises if being an agent of Icardi takes on greater value than being Icardi.”
