Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his thoughts on Inter’s defeat to Lazio last night in an interview with Sky Sport.

“Inter didn’t have that bad a match, they created plenty of chances but the lack of a true attacker was certainly felt,” he said.

“There were so many opportunities from set piece situations but the poor quality of them meant that Lazio was not hurt and they defended well.”

Bergomi, who spent his entire 20 year playing career at Inter, then touched upon Inter manager Luciano Spalletti’s post-match rant about Mauro Icardi.

“In my opinion Spalletti was right with what he said. Icardi, do you need a lawyer to wear the shirt? The most important thing about any club is the crest. If players do not understand this, you do not get anywhere.”

Icardi was recently stripped of the Inter captaincy and Bergomi stressed that just because he does not have the armband it does not mean that he still can not act like a captain.

“You can still be captain even without a band. During my playing career there was Walter Zenga and Riccardo Ferri who were like captains. There will be a reason why they removed the armband from Icardi.
