As is now traditional, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts on all things Nerazzurri ahead of the Serie A clash against Atalanta, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

Marotta began by underlining that it’s far too soon to talk about securing the Champions League spot.

“We cannot talk about a match point, we are still in the middle of the Serie A, there are still 8 matches left and 24 points left to play for.”

The discussion then turned to Mauro Icardi given that this is the first match at the San Siro since being stripped of the captaincy.

“Today he is an Inter player and has to play in the best way possible. There is time to discuss the future we care about the present.”

“Icardi is only 26 years old, he is young and surely needs to grow and gain experience like everyone, I made many mistakes which I will not do again when I was his age. Experience is a fundamentally important component for a football player. He has great qualities and needs to put them at the service of the team which is Inter.”

“I don’t expect any [kind of reaction from the Curva Nord]. I think that people understand that Inter needs to be put ahead of everything.”
