Journalist Matteo Marani has voiced his views on Mauro Icardi’s first home appearance for Inter in over two months in yesterday’s dull 0-0 draw with high-flying Atalanta.

“Icardi showed sacrifice and a lot of desire to get to the game even if when he had the ball he did not hurt anyone, as demonstrated by his wasted chance yesterday where perhaps I felt the pressure got to him,” Marani remarked while he was a guest in the Sky Sport studios.

“Inter cannot do without Icardi and I hope that the situation with Luciano Spalletti can come to an end because the race for the Champions League is not easy. Inter has an important advantage.”

Marani also heaped praise on Inter winger Matteo Politano for his performance against the Bergamo based club.

“I must give a special mention to Matteo Politano. He is an intelligent player who improves the attacking phase of the team with great tactical intelligence.
