Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports on the initial dialogue between Antonio Conte and the Zhang family regarding the position as Inter’s coach for next season.

According to the report, Conte has made a massive demand, asking for €10 million net per season. This is because Conte was originally hoping to get the Manchester United job before Solskjaer’s long term appointment and feels the need to make up for this missed opportunity.

There’s no hurry in this matter, as it’s completely normal for these negotiations to start high and slowly decrease to something more agreeable. Bare in mind that Conte is also still waiting for the €23 million compensation package from Chelsea that they have so far refused to pay.

Furthermore, according to the report, Inter are also not entirely certain that they want to part ways with Luciano Spalletti. This is not only because releasing the former Roma coach would cost €25 million, but also because there is still a season to end in the best way possible and Spalletti’s work is greatly admired within the camp.

Conte would also most certainly have to agree to lower his demands, considering that Juve coach Allegri earns €7 million and Spalletti  is on €4.5 million. While it’s unlikely that Juventus will compete with Inter over Conte’s signature due to their strong relationship with Allegri, AC Milan’s position will remain unclear until the end of the season, once the Champions League places have been decided.

In short, an initial contact has been made and due to the excellent relationship between Conte and Marotta it is a strong possibility but Inter want to evaluate everything before making a decision.
