According to Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Atletico Madrid are showing a strong interest in Inter’s former captain, Mauro Icardi.

Inter, who will still need to raise about €40 million in capital gains by the end of June in order to finally be free from the settlement agreement, would be open to the idea of selling Icardi as his sale would be more than enough to reach that objective.

The discussion then shifts towards the question of who will replace Icardi at Inter with the Gazzetta suggesting that Inter have 3 players in particular in mind.

“Inter are juggling with the ideas of putting their focus on Lautaro Martinez but also wanting to bring in a big name. One of the names that is being linked heavily with Inter is that of Edin Dzeko. Discussions have already started for the Bosnian, who has given his approval for a potential move to Inter. Dzeko is also on West Ham’s radar, but the striker prefers to stay in Italy.”

“If, on the other hand, Inter decide to go for a younger player, Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata is being considered, but the real striker that Inter could be interested in is Man United Romelu Lukaku.”
