Inter is targeting Man City’s German international midfielder Ilkay Gundogan because FC Barcelona want to keep Croatian international midfielder Ivan Rakitic as he’s proven his consistency and importance to Valverde’s style of play, according to Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

“Barcelona renewed Valverde’s contract and now they plan to renew with Ivan Rakitic, to end the noise about the Croatians fear of being excluded from the squad, with the imminent arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.”

Therefore, Inter have switched their attention onto Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan. The German international has already told coach Pep Guardiola, that he will not be renewing his contract with the club, which expires at the end of June 2020. This was officially announced by the coach ahead of his teams upcoming clash against Crystal Palace.

Gundogan does not want to prolong his stay in Manchester and does not even want to play, but with Fernandinho absent, he maintains his professionalism.

Now after the disappointment of losing out on Rakitic, Ausilio does not want to miss out on Gundogan as well. Inter now seem to be in full swing of preparations for the summer market and will be hoping to close this deal as soon as possible, Tuttosport conclude.
