After the 1-1 draw against Roma at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti talked to Inter TV to share his thoughts on the match.

Inter seemed very calm while managing the result of the match?

“During the second half, we played another type of game, more mature. We did well in keeping Roma in control, making them pass the ball side to side. In the first half though, we suffered a bit from their counterattacks. If you push up your fullbacks it’s impossible not to leave any space behind. Borja Valero did great, both in the offensive as well as in the defensive phase.”

The team passed the ball horizontally a lot on Roma’s half?

“When the team you face set camp on the defensive line of the penalty area, you have to be patient. Because when they are so compact you have to move the ball around in order for them to arrive late in their coverage, opening up space centrally. It’s not like we had a bad game tonight, there was just a little more that we had to do, then there is always the matter of staying focused and being organized.”

Did Inter want to win this game at all cost or was a draw a good result?

“I wanted to win this game, because it was a chance for us to get a larger distance. Our intentions are always to win.”
