In the coming weeks Inter and Napoli will sit down to hold talks over a possible exchange involving Mauro Icardi and Lorenzo Insigne according to a report from Sky Sport.

Both players have endured particularly difficult times at their respective clubs of late which has fuelled rumours about a possible departure.

While Icardi has been at the centre of several off-field problems, Italian international Insigne has come in for some intense scrutiny for his performances and was even benched for Napoli’s 2-1 loss to Atalanta on Monday night.

Insigne earns €5 million a season at the Stadio San Paolo, a similar figure to what Icardi earns annual at San Siro.

It is not just the salaries that are similar between the players as the report goes on to state that 27-year-old Insigne is currently valued at €70 million, around about the same price as Icardi, whose price has dropped as a result of the recent turmoil.

Napoli’s interest in signing Icardi is clear while Insigne would fit in with the Inter leadership’s ambition to add more Italian players in the team.
