After the disappointing goalless draw against Udinese away, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti stopped by InterTV to share his thoughts on the draw.

Inter had a lot of opportunities, but without the capacity to score a goal, why?

“When a team play as deep as Udinese did, it is hard to create dangerous opportunities to score. There are a lot of crowded spaces where you have to create opportunities and manage to score. I think that we had a good game, but where the team failed to take advantage of the chances created. Maybe we had to look more fore one-on-one situations at the back of their half, but again there isn’t that much of space and that’s why the quality of play suffers.”

In your opinion, could Inter have played tougher?

“I think we played at 100% of our ability, we just couldn’t profit on the opportunities given us with the right force and determination. But we had our chances. Then our opponents defended really well and focused on being numerically superior in their area.”

But Inter won against Genoa by 4-0 with the same level of possession as tonight, what was the difference?

“The difference lies in being able to find more deciding passes, when you are positioned in their final third, you have to succeed, going one-on-one and try to find the space. And many times, luck changes a game, I’m thinking about the header from Perisic and the shot from Keita. All the times when we had the chance of putting the ball into the net, and there were maybe 5-6 incredible opportunities, we could have gotten huge advantages.”

D’Ambrosio and Brozovic both are suspended the next game, how is Vecino doing?

“A lot of our players are on the bench, now they get the opportunity to play. I just hope that they come in and do what is expected of them. Vecino will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, even though he got some time this week he didn’t manage to recuperate. We’ll see how he is and take it day-by day.”
