Roma are very interested in signing promising midfielder Nicolo Barella from Cagliari in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Incoming Giallorossi sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is already at work when it comes to trying to craft a deal for the youngster, who is widely regarded as one of the top Italian prospects.

Petrachi has drafted up a deal that would consist of a cash element plus striker Gregoire Defrel, who has spent the season on loan at Sampdoria.

Part of the cash element involved will seemingly be made up from the sale of Edin Dzeko.

The Rome based newspaper report that the veteran Bosnian forward could head to fellow Serie A club Inter, who have also shown a keen interest in Barella, for a sum of €12 million.

The 33-year-old has scored 14 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for Roma this term and he has also grabbed 11 assists.
