With speculation continuing regarding a possible swap deal between Inter and Juventus involving Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, Gazzetta dello Sport have recalled Antonio Conte’s previous attempts for Dybala.

Whilst in charge of the Italian national team Conte visited Dybala, who has an Italian passport, at Palermo and had enquired about the possibility of Dybala suiting up for the Azzurri.

Dybala however politely knocked Conte back due to him having the dream of playing alongside Lionel Messi in the Argentina national team, a dream he has since achieved.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to detail that impact Dybala’s prospective arrival at the Nerazzurri would have on other transfer plans.

Whilst it would have no effect on Inter’s assault for Edin Dzeko, it almost certainly would see them abandon the idea of signing Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.

The report concludes by suggesting that Dybala could allow Conte to play a 3-4-2-1 system wherein Dybala and Lautaro Martinez would play in behind Dzeko.
