Inter could turn to Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi if their pursuit of Fiorentina forward Federico Chiesa falls through, according to Tuttosport.

Chiesa remains the Nerazzurri’s number one transfer target on the right-hand side of midfield, with new boss Antonio Conte identifying him as the perfect player for his 3-5-2 system.

However, Juventus remain favourites to secure the winger’s services for next season and Inter must therefore seek other players in case they cannot sign him.

Florenzi was linked with a move to Inter last summer when it looked like he might not extend his contract with Roma, but the 28-year-old’s name has appeared again this week with Roma looking to raise funds before 30 June.

Inter are close to signing Florenzi’s teammate Edin Dzeko but could aim for both if Chiesa moves to Turin, or if Fiorentina’s new ownership reject all advances for the Italian international.

The Nerazzurri are also looking for a versatile midfielder at a low cost and this could lead them to pursue Mateo Kovacic, whom Real Madrid would be willing to let go on loan.
