Roma’s decision to sell Edin Dzeko to Inter is one of the reasons behind Francesco Totti’s departure from Roma, according to Corriere della Sera.

Totti held a press conference earlier this afternoon to confirm he was leaving the Giallorossi after spending two years in a managerial role.

Roma’s policy of selling their strongest players is thought to have frustrated their former captain and persuaded him the club lacked the ambition to win trophies.

Radja Nainggolan’s departure last summer was cited as one of the first sales which disappointed Totti, with Inter signing the Belgian for an overall valuation of €40 million.

Dzeko has yet to complete the same move with Monday’s papers reporting talks between Inter and Roma had stalled.

The Bosnian is widely expected to join the Nerazzurri before the end of the month, though, which will see him join up with the coach who wanted to sign him for Chelsea 18 months ago, or rather Antonio Conte.
