Inter’s young forward Davide Merola could be the key to ending the club’s impasse with Roma over talks for Edin Dzeko, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Roma now want €22 million to sell the 33-year-old, after raising their initial asking price by €2 million, but Inter are only offering €13 million.

The Giallorossi would have liked to sign Ionut Radu, Andrea Pinamonti or Sebastiano Esposito in a part-exchange deal but Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have vetoed all of them.

“We’re at the jousting phase of negotiations,” Gazzetta reported this morning.

“The deal isn’t going to fall through and everyone is aware of that, but Roma aren’t in as much of a hurry to close it given the imminent sale of Kostas Manolas.”

Inter are continuing to monitor the situation regarding Dzeko’s teammate Aleksandar Kolarov, who has one year left on his deal at Roma and is known to be a player Antonio Conte likes.
