Inter are very close to finalising a deal for Hertha Berlin midfielder Valentino Lazaro, Tuttosport reported this morning.

The Nerazzurri have offered €15 million plus €2 million in add-ons while the German club continue to ask for €20 million.

Inter are willing to up their offer to €17+2 million, though, which would leave a tiny distance between demand and offer.

The club had earmarked the final week of June to fly to Germany for the conclusion of talks, but the standby for Nicolo Barella and Edin Dzeko means they could prioritise this now.

Lazaro has agreed personal terms and will most likely sign a five-year deal when he joins Inter.

The 23-year-old made 31 appearances for Hertha last season as they secured an 11th-place finish in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals and contributing seven assists.

Inter almost signed the Austrian international in 2012 when Piero Ausilio agreed a deal with Red Bull Salzburg, but Lazaro’s mother ultimately pulled the plug on a move.
