Inter’s pursuit of Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi began after the Nerazzurri made an unsuccessful approach for Real Madrid’s Marcos Llorente, according to Sky Sport.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are looking for an understudy to Marcelo Brozovic with Borja Valero expected to leave this summer.

The pair requested Llorente when they met Madrid for talks last week but were told the Spaniard would only be available for €40 million.

Inter did not want to pay that much for a ‘reserve’ and hence focused their attention on Sensi instead.

Milan are also interested in the Italian and have offered Sassuolo a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy for €15 million.

The Neroverdi are not keen on such a formula, though, and are willing to listen to Inter’s offer as well.

Inter could offer defender Andrew Gravillon in a part-exchange deal, in an attempt to secure another capital gain for Financial Fair Play.
