Inter will have to wait even longer before they can meet Wanda Nara to discuss Mauro Icardi’s future, after the striker’s wife and agent left Milan for Sardinia last night.

Icardi and Wanda returned to Italy from their summer holidays on Sunday and the Nerazzurri hoped they could finally hold talks with the latter.

Wanda only stayed in Milan for one evening, though, before taking a private jet to join up with her children in Sardinia.

Inter wanted to sell Icardi before preseason training began on 8 July but this now seems virtually impossible.

Antonio Conte has no intention to use the club’s former captain next season but he will be forced to greet him when Inter’s first team reaches Appiano Gentile at the weekend.

Icardi has reiterated his desire to stay at the club throughout the summer and is showing no sign of backing down as the new campaign approaches.
