Inter are to contact Cagliari in the coming days with a view to closing a deal for midfielder Nicolo Barella according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with the Rossoblu for some time now over the Italian international but the move appeared to stall as fellow Serie A club Roma swooped in for the highly-rated 22-year-old.

Inter’s most recent offer consisted of €36 million up front plus €4 million in bonuses and the report goes on to state that Inter could slightly raise both elements to push the deal over the line.

Barella is one of Inter’s top transfer targets for the Summer transfer window and it would appear as if they are intent on securing him as their fourth addition as soon as possible.

Since the transfer window opened on July 1, Inter have marked every day with a new addition.

Diego Godin was the first to arrive as he completed a free transfer from Atletico Madrid following the expiration of his contract with the Spanish outfit.

Valentino Lazaro joined on July 2 from Hertha Berlin in a deal worth around €22 million whilst Stefano Sensi completed the trio of signings as his arrival was confirmed on Tuesday evening.
