Inter are no closer to signing Romelu Lukaku despite reports in the Spanish media suggesting they had agreed a deal with Manchester United, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

AS reported earlier on Tuesday that the Nerazzurri were on the verge of signing the striker for €80 million plus bonuses.

Di Marzio denied this, however, assuring that Inter had not confirmed the news after last week’s formal talks in London.

Inter will soon make another offer which moves them towards United’s asking price for Lukaku, but there is a long way to go before any deal is reached.

Antonio Conte’s side will face United in a preseason friendly in Singapore on Saturday and Lukaku had hoped to play in it for Inter.

This now seems almost impossible, though, considering the clubs remain distant on their valuations for the 26-year-old.

Mauro Icardi was left out of the squad for Inter’s tour in Asia but Conte called up George Puscas to fill the vacancy, suggesting Lukaku’s arrival was not at all imminent.
