Inter have prioritised signing an experienced forward for Antonio Conte when Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio return to Italy later today, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The pair flew out to Nanjing last weekend to attend a transfer summit with Conte, Steven Zhang and Suning boss Zhang Jindong.

Edin Dzeko is the obvious candidate to join the Nerazzurri in attack, despite wearing the captain’s armband for Roma in their latest preseason friendly yesterday.

Talks with Lille for their 20-year-old striker Rafael Leao are on hold in the meantime, with reports elsewhere today suggesting Conte does not think the Portuguese youngster is ready for Inter.

Romelu Lukaku remains Inter’s top target up front but time is running out to secure a deal for the Belgian international.

The forward is still training away from the rest of Manchester United’s first team and will miss today’s friendly against Tottenham, but an agreement between the club seems to be a long way off.

Inter could make an improved offer to United for Lukaku if they completed a sale, so the club will be heartened by news Monaco are interested in signing Ivan Perisic.

The French outfit have already been linked with Miranda, Joao Mario and Dalbert in the last couple of weeks but the Croatian has now joined that list as well.

Perisic played 78 minutes as a second striker on Wednesday as Inter drew with Juventus in the International Champions Cup, before the Bianconeri won 4-3 on penalties.
