Inter could offer Mauro Icardi to Roma today when the clubs meet to resume talks for Edin Dzeko, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Beppe Marotta will cross paths with the Giallorossi’s management on two occasions, firstly at the Lega Serie A’s headquarters and then at Serie A’s fixture ceremony in Milan.

Icardi wants to join Juventus if he leaves Inter, but the Bianconeri’s proposed swap deal with Manchester United involving Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala would end that possibility.

“It’s a very difficult move to pull off for lots of reasons, though,” Gazzetta assured this morning.

“Maurito is worth at least €60 million, so Roma would have to send a player to Inter as part of the deal, perhaps on loan.

“Then there’s the fact that the Argentine and Wanda Nara have always batted their eyelids towards Juventus and don’t want to lose Champions League football.

“There’s also the issue that Roma remain strongly keen on signing Gonzalo Higuain.”

Mauro Baldissoni and Guido Fienga will see Marotta later today and the parties will resume negotiations for Dzeko.

Inter have so far offered €12 million while Roma are demanding €20 million, but an agreement could be reached for €15 million plus bonuses.

“It’s difficult to say when the deal will be finalised, but Conte is anxiously awaiting the arrival of at least one new centre-forward,” the paper added.
