The first Milan derby of the season could take place at 12:30 according to a report from Milan based news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The reason for this is that on September 22, when the derby is due to take place, many cities around the world, including Milan, will be taking part in a car-free day meaning fans will have to make their way to San Siro by bicycle, tram or metro. For sake of convenience, the fixture could be played earlier in the day.

The report goes on to remind that the clubs and Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala ultimately have zero say in when the fixture is scheduled but it would not be the first time that a Milan derby would be played at lunchtime.

Should the fixture be scheduled for lunchtime, it will make it further attractive to the Asian market, who have greatly appreciated some of Italy’s big games being played earlier.
