Marcelo Brozovic refused to confirm Inter were aiming to win the Scudetto this season after starring in their 4-0 win over Lecce.

The Croatian scored a sublime opening goal before Stefano Sensi, Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Candreva secured a convincing first win for Antonio Conte.

Inter’s next match will come away to Cagliari next Sunday, before the Nerazzurri pause for the first international break of the season.

Asked if Conte’s side could win the league this year, Brozovic told DAZN: “Maybe yes, maybe no. We’ll see from the next match.

“I don’t know if there is a different feeling about this season, We had a lot of fans tonight, a lot after seven or eight years [referring to Inter’s highest opening-day attendance since the 2010-11 campaign]. Thank you to everyone, let’s hope we do well in the next matches too.

“We misplaced too many passes at the start but then we played better and we deserved this win. I’m happy.

“I play as a defensive midfielder so I need to be careful going forward, but I took a good shot and I scored.”
