Inter are convinced they have taken all necessary action to prevent Mauro Icardi winning a legal case against the club, according to Corriere della Sera.

Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has received numerous offers from lawyers who believe they can help the striker prematurely terminate his contract, thus forcing the Nerazzurri to lose him for free.

But Inter are not worried about losing such a battle, having allowed the striker to train as normal with the rest of the first team throughout the summer.

The club’s own lawyers have assured them they are safe to exclude the striker from tactical exercises, on the grounds that head coach Antonio Conte is entitled to take whatever decision he sees fit.

Inter’s only remaining risk is found in Article 15 of FIFA’s regulations on player transfers, which states ‘established’ players can resolve their contracts if they do not take part in at least 10% of official matches within a season.

Were such a condition not to be met, Icardi would be able to leave for free within 15 days of the club’s last competitive match in the campaign.

Inter are studying ways to circumnavigate such a law, in order to avoid a repeat of what happened to Lazio when they lost Goran Pandev for free in 2009 (albeit the forward was being made to train alone, unlike Icardi).

The Nerazzurri could choose to give Icardi a handful of cameo appearances in ‘irrelevant’ matches, so as to close off the striker’s last possible avenue of a legal challenge.
