Milan Skriniar has discussed the hostile atmosphere that he and his Slovakian international teammates were subjected to throughout their match against Hungary.

Pavel Hapal’s side saw off their opposition 2-1 with goals coming from Robert Mak and Robert Bozenik in the Hungarian capital of Budapest where the home support tried their utmost to unnerve the Slovakia team.

“When we were on the field we were all looking at each other trying to figure out if the national anthem was being played or not because we could not hear anything,” he said in an interview with Slovakian news outlet Sport.

“The victory was a good response not only to the defeat we suffered against Croatia but also to the behaviur of the Hungarian fans. Unfortunately there were Slovaks out there who were supporting Hungary, which is really sad.

“However, we are grateful to those who came to support us despite the defeat against the Croatian’s and to those who have supported us all the time.”
