Stefan de Vrij has reflected on Inter’s performance in the 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague and has looked ahead to this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.

“In the Champions League match a lot of things didn’t go well, our spirit was missing and this can’t happen again. They had more desire to win, we weren’t very precise and didn’t manage to play our game but we’re looking ahead and not thinking about it anymore,” he said in an interview with Sky Sports and Sport Mediaset.

“We’ve got back to work immediately: we’ve watched the game back, highlighted the mistakes we made and understood that we can’t repeat the approach we had. Now it’s up to us: we need to show a reaction.

“We’re fired up and now our desire and concentration levels are as high as they can be as we look to win the Milan derby. It’s always a great match to play, and it’s a very important one on our journey. We’re really confident and need to show a response.

“It’s an extraordinary game for both sides. We need to get a result, even if we know that Milan are an excellent side with strong players and a good coach. We need to prepare in the best possible way.”

He concluded by commenting on some of Inter’s Summer transfer acquisitions.

“Godin is a very good player, he’s helping us a lot. In defence, we’re continuing to get better with the new formation. However, we need to carry on working.

“Lukaku has an impressive physical stature, he’s really quick and works hard for the team. Meanwhile, Sensi has surprised everyone. He has brilliant technical ability, a good shot on him and knows how to manage the ball. We hope he carries on like this.”
