Antonio Candreva admitted Inter’s players were ‘sorry and angry’ after their 2-2 draw against Parma at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri had the chance to leapfrog Juventus at the top of the Serie A table after Maurizio Sarri’s side drew 1-1 at Lecce earlier on Saturday.

But goals from Candreva and Romelu Lukaku were only enough to secure a point, following first-half strikes from Yann Karamoh and Gervinho.

Candreva told InterTV: “We had a bad first half; in the second half it was better, but the regret of not winning remains.

“Individual performances are only pleasing up to a certain point if they don’t help the team to win. We’re sorry and angry about how it went.

“Two games close to each other? These are small excuses. We took the lead and maybe at that moment we had to be smarter and manage it well.

“We went behind and then we had a good second half, but we are sorry for the failure to win.

“From tomorrow we’ll be thinking about the match against Brescia: a tough game, like all Serie A games. We need to recover our energy, both physically and mentally.”
