Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is Inter’s primary target in the upcoming January transfer window, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The 31-year-old Serbian midfielder, whose contract expires with the Red Devils next June, fits coach Antonio Conte’s project because the Nerazzurri are looking for a strong midfielder who can play alongside former Sassuolo midfielder Stefano Sensi and Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, the report highlights.

The report also details how Matic is a perfect fit because he worked under Conte during their time together in South London with Chelsea, meaning he is fully aware of the 50-year-old Italian’s methods and what he expects from his midfield.

The report adds that Matic’s contract with the Premier League side can be extended unilaterally by the club for another season, if they wish, although this seems unlikely due to the fact that he doesn’t appear to be within the plans of coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
