The officiating team for next week’s Champions League clash between Borussia Dortmund and Inter have been announced, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

The report suggests that Dutch referee Danny Makkelie will lead the officiating team in the game, with his compatriots Mario Diks and Hessel Steegstra working alongside him. The fourth official will be Kevin Blom.

Furthermore, the report adds, the VAR room will be directed by Joachim Kamphius, with Bas Nijhuis as his assistant.

Makkelie, a former policeman, was in the VAR room during the World Cup final last summer between France and Croatia, showing a nerve for high profile games. This season the 36-year-old Dutch referee officiated the Champions League clash between Olympiacos and Bayern Munich last month, as well as Atletico Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Juventus in September.

A victory for the Nerazzurri in next week’s game is key if they want to progress to the next round of the Champions League, as they are currently tied for second in the group with the Bundesliga side, three points behind group leaders Barcelona.
