Inter & AC Milan On New Stadium: “We’ve Been Told Yes But It Looks A Lot Like A No”

Inter and AC Milan are unhappy at the Milan City Council’s decision to remove the possibility of demolishing the existing San Siro in order to make space for the new stadium, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The clubs summarised their feelings in a sentence, saying: “We’ve been told yes, but it’s a yes that looks a lot like a no.” The paper reporting that the Council’s orders to follow the ratio set by the territorial governance plan and to present a new project to renovate the current San Siro has upset the plans of the Milanese clubs, forcing them to invent a new plan to build their new stadium.

Therefore, the report adds, both clubs are likely to fall back onto their Plan B, moving the new stadium to the Sesto San Giovanni area of Milan instead and leaving their historic San Siro area behind.

This is due to the request of the Council to present an “updated feasibility study”, an idea neither club is keen on.
