Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Torino tonight in the Serie A in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN.

First, Conte touched on how important it was to achieve a clean sheet in tonight’s win.

“That’s the thing that makes me happy, we’ve shown a good defensive solidity and it’s very important because we show that we’ll score sooner or later. If we come back as airtight as at the beginning of the season, we’re more serene.”

The 50-year-old Italian coach then discussed his squad rotation between this game and Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Slavia Prague.

“Let’s start from the positive aspect, that is that today Borja Valero entered and showed his professionalism and determination. He worked a lot with determination and in silence, and this gives me satisfaction.”

“It’s a pleasure to train people like him and Dimarco, I know that it’s not easy to train without having a great chance. But Borja had a great second half, I’m happy for him and for Dimarco’s debut, he deserved this satisfaction. I hope now that there’s nothing serious with Barella, because he’s grown exponentially and he’s important for us. I hope that the clinical examinations don’t give very disastrous results.”

He then spoke about two Inter strikers out on loan, Mauro Icardi and Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.

“This year, players like Icardi, Nainggolan and Perisic have left but we haven’t received anything from an economic point of view. There might be an important stream of cash for us. But in the meantime, let’s continue to work and do what we have to do, with the maximum commitment.”

“We have to do more than we can because the injury crisis continues, but we just have to thank these guys. I’m especially happy for them because the work, sacrifice, and tactical training are paying off. They are reaping the benefits and I hope they can continue to do so in the future.”

Conte was very impressed with the performance of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

“Together with Romelu he represents an offensive player that is growing so much. He is 22 years old, Romelu 26, they are potential attackers for Inter for 7-8 years. They’re growing exponentially, I’m happy with the goals but also because they work for the team.”

“I think they could have scored more tonight, but the team also did well to support them and they’ll be there in both parts of the game.”

Finally, Conte joked about how soaked his cap was considering the heavy rain in Turin tonight.

“It was already wet at the end of the first half, but I didn’t want to take it off because it was very important to win.”
